National Agri Rural Towards 2002 - Initiative Supported.
Federated Farmers President, Alistair Polson, to-day commended the National Party on its announced National Party Agri Rural towards 2002 tour throughout provincial New Zealand to develop its rural policies.
The initiative announced by Opposition Leader, Jenny Shipley in Federated Farmers opinion must be applauded and supported.
I'm pleased with this initiative by one of our major parties recognizing the need to provide in its rural policies some updated vision and strategic direction for rural New Zealand, in particular agri business.
The opposition leader is correct in stating that "Agri business is again demonstrating that it is at the heart of the wealth creation in our economy. Agri-business is also at the cutting edge of new technology and will clearly have a major impact on our future prosperity."
"I strongly urge farmers and others involved in rural and agribusiness to support this initiative by the opposition". Mr Polson concluded.
