ACT Leader Hon Richard Prebble today said Jim Anderton is using the non-hostility pact with Labour to hide serious
policy differences with the Labour Party.
In a debate on Radio Pacific this morning Richard Prebble pushed the Alliance Leader to state for voters the areas where
the Alliance and Labour disagree. Jim Anderton refused to answer.
"Labour and the Alliance's publicly stated non-hostility pact is dishonest and undemocratic. The public needs to know
where the parties of the left disagree.
"Already the Alliance has back peddled on capital gains tax but refuses to rule them out. The public needs to know
before the election how Jim Anderton and Helen Clark would work together.
""Helen Clark is now trying to distance herself from the extreme policies of her coalition partner. Even Labour doesn't
believe that Jim Anderton's promises in this campaign can ever be delivered. Helen should just come out and say where
the problems with Alliance policy lie.
"ACT has shown that we can work with National. We have supported them in Parliament when they were right and we have
stated openly when they were wrong," said Hon Richard Prebble.
