Richard Prebble has done so little as MP for Wellington Central that the National Party are having to bail him out of
his nose diving popularity says Alliance MP and Candidate for Wellington Central Phillida Bunkle.
“Richard Prebble’s claims of being an effective MP are nonsense. If he is doing such a marvellous job then why do I see
so many dissatisfied constituents in my Vivian Street office?” asks Phillida Bunkle.
“It is precisely because Prebble hasn’t been an effective MP that the National Party is having to stand aside to give
him a chance,” says Phillida Bunkle.
“It was Prebble who sold part of our town belt and now he claims it was the fault of local MPs who didn’t stop him. This
is the man who sold 48% of public assets in 24 months. Prebble has absolutely no commitment to keeping public assets in
public ownership and his track record proves it. It is preposterous that he calls himself a champion of defending public
assets, like the town belt, from sale.”
“Prebble talks of being a champion of our hospital but when he was a cabinet minister more than thirty public hospitals
were closed by his government. He has been fudging the issue about the location of our hospital and has shown no
commitment to keeping it in public ownership or at the level of service our community needs.”
“Richard has no credibility. He relies upon the media reporting his lies and the public knowing no better.”
“If the people of Wellington want a commitment to social services and the environment then they won’t be voting for
Richard Prebble,” says Phillida Bunkle.
