National too cowardly to stand by its own smears

Advertisements attacking the Alliance and Labour in Sunday newspapers are paid for by the National Party, Alliance leader Jim Anderton says.
He says National is too cowardly to stand by its own smears.
‘National has nothing positive to say. It has no vision for the future. It has no ideas to clean up the mess it has created. All it can do is smear and run dishonest ads about other parties.
‘National is so shame-faced about its scurrilous ads that it won't even put its own logo on them.
‘If National ran honest ads they would say 'millionaires will pay more tax and ordinary New Zealanders will get better health care, better education, secure superannuation and more jobs.
‘Jim Anderton said the Alliance could run advertisements along the same lines which would say:
Vote National and virtually every public hospital will be sold or closed.
Vote National and your superannuation will be cut, just like it was last year.
Vote National and the roads will be sold to overseas owners.
Vote National and tertiary fees will double.
Vote National and you'll be forced to eat genetically modified food.
