US Continues Fork Tongue Approach to Trade

Media Release -- Economy
ACT Agriculture Spokesman Owen Jennings today said the continuing interference in the international dairy market by the US Government subsidy programme (DEIP) is further evidence of their forked tongue approach to trade issues.
The American's protectionist meddling in the international dairy market achieves nothing and is another blow against hard working subsidy free New Zealand farmers.
"Not one extra tonne of product will be sold and prices will only be influenced downwards as a result of the Dairy Export Incentive Programme.
"The New Zealand Government must not give up on its pressure for fairer practises and apply greater resources on a wider front to ensure that the next WTO round is successful," said Owen Jennings.
