The Minister of Maori Affairs' claim that the race relations office should not acknowledge New Zealand is a multi racial country is dangerous demagoguery, according to ACT Leader and Pacific Island Affairs spokesman Richard Prebble.
"While ACT is not saying that a race relations office is a good use of taxpayer funds, a race relations office that only recognised Maori would be a nonsense," Mr Prebble said.
"Mr Henare should look at the racial makeup of the All Blacks. New Zealand is a multi-racial, multi-cultural country. We respect Maori as tangata whenua but we should also give respect to all other cultures represented in our country."
