Statement on Frank Grover's position

Published: Fri 11 Jun 1999 05:27 PM

Alliance leader Jim Anderton says it is clear from the news conference Frank Grover held today that his pledge to the people of New Zealand at the last election has been broken.
"Agreements between him and the Alliance since that time have also been betrayed," Jim Anderton said.
"The implications of Mr Grover's actions are being considered carefully by the Alliance. We have been unable to determine all of the facts involved this afternoon.
"Issues to be resolved include the way Frank Grover will vote; the implications for resources and staff already contracted; the process by which the Speaker was informed; the role of the Christian Heritage Party in all these matters and the implications for Parliamentary representation of the decision on funding forced through Parliamentary Services Commission by National and Act.
"The Alliance will make a detailed response on these issues early next week as soon as all the facts are in our possession," Jim Anderton said.
