Metiria Turei supporting children’s covenant
Green Party Co-leader Metiria Turei is backing the Covenant for Our Nation’s Children, which was launched today by Judge Carolyn Henwood and iwi leaders.
Amongst other things, signees of the covenant agree to treasure and respect our children, and protect them from violence.
“We have to do anything and everything we can to protect our babies, and to give them the full, rich life that they all deserve,” said Mrs Turei.
“Every political party, iwi, business, church, community and family has a part to play in making sure our children grow up happy, healthy and safe.
“This covenant is the kind of bold statement that I’d like to see our Government – and all politicians – make.
“I’m getting behind the children’s covenant because we can do better, as politicians, as people, and as a society, to nurture our tamariki,” said Mrs Turei.
