Jono Naylor to host HomeStart public meeting
On Thursday 16 July, Jono Naylor will host the Building and Housing Minister Dr Nick Smith and officials from Housing
New Zealand for a public meeting on the new HomeStart scheme.
“HomeStart is the most generous Government support for first home buyers in more than a generation, and is part of our
plan to reverse the long-term decline in New Zealand’s rate of home ownership,” says Dr Smith.
“The KiwiSaver HomeStart support package will help more first home buyers in Manawatu achieve the dream of owning their
own home. The package is estimated to help around 29000 people in Manawatu over the next five years,” says Jono Naylor,
National List MP based in Palmerston North.
The public meeting will inform people in Palmerston North as to what they are able to receive.
“I recommend anyone who is thinking of buying their first home, or know of someone looking to buy a first home to come
and see how the Government can help them,” Naylor said.
“I am looking forward to talking with people in Palmerston North about housing and how this scheme will help improve
home ownership in New Zealand,” Naylor said.
Nationally, the package is projected to assist 90,000 people into home ownership over the next five years, at a cost of
$435 million.
The public meeting will be held at Arena Manawatu lounges at Arena 2, 7-8:30pm on Thursday 16 July.
