EMBARGO June 15, 2014
National Volunteer Week is underway (June 15-21) and MP Scott Simpson is thanking hardworking volunteers all over the Coromandel.
Mr Simpson says “We have many dedicated people around the region who give their time and energy to helping others. They’re saving lives, cooking meals, planting trees, caring for animals, offering support and advice – just to name a few.”
“All these volunteer hours add up to a huge contribution to the Coromandel. The tremendous work put in by volunteers helps make our communities stronger, building happier and healthier places to live,” he says.
Mr Simpson says “About a third of New Zealanders get involved in volunteer work; it’s a crucial part of what makes our small towns and communities tick. Volunteers make up the very fabric of our communities.”
