Rescue helicopter funding a win for Auckland
Moves to fix the current funding arrangements to guarantee the future of Auckland’s Rescue Helicopter are a win for local residents, Labour’s MP for Mount Albert David Shearer says.
“The rescue helicopter is an essential part of Auckland’s health services.
“The idea there wasn’t sufficient funding for it is absurd.
“The Mayor and Councillors have done the right thing by taking the funding standoff out of the courts and acting together to fix it.
“It is a no brainer that Auckland needs this service and a Labour government would work speedily with the Auckland Mayor and Council to fix the current funding problems to guarantee its future.
“My two children were flown by the rescue helicopter following a fatal car accident in 2006 north of Auckland.
“I’ve personally seen the amazing work of the Auckland Rescue Helicopter and want every Aucklander to know it is there for them and their children,” David Shearer says.
