Police must stop “Boobs on Bikes” parade
Independent MP and Kiwi Party co-founder Gordon Copeland today called on the Auckland Police to stop the so-called “Boobs on Bikes” parade scheduled for 20 August in downtown Auckland.
“The Auckland City Council, utilising their bylaw powers, have refused a permit for the parade but its organiser, Steve Crow, has signalled that he intends to ignore that decision and continue with the parade regardless,” said Mr Copeland.
“His attitude displays a complete disregard for the law and he should not be allowed to get away with it. Let’s just be frank about the matter. Crow is a publicity seeker and stunt man, out to make a fast buck.”
“He couldn’t care less about the law of the land or the effect of his actions on the wider community, including its children. His actions indicate that all of that is simply sacrificed at the alter of money.”
“He must now feel the full force of the law.”
Mr Copeland revealed that he had sent an email to Auckland Police District Commander, Brett England, on Wednesday asking that the Police use their powers to prevent the parade going ahead.
