Minister to visit Indonesia and Australia
Agriculture and Forestry Minister Jim Anderton is to visit Indonesia and Australia this week to discuss illegal logging and bilateral agricultural issues.
Jim Anderton is to meet Indonesian agriculture minister Anton Apriyantono and forestry minister M S Kaban in Jakarta on Wednesday.
On Friday, Jim Anderton will meet Australian agriculture and forestry minister Tony Burke in Melbourne to hold annual Closer Economic Relations talks. He will also discuss progress on New Zealand’s proposals for combating illegal logging in the Asia-Pacific region.
He said there were a lot of issues for the two ministers to discuss, especially given the recent halt to World Trade Organisation negotiations which had big effects for New Zealand and Australia.
Jim Anderton leaves New Zealand today and returns on Sunday, August 17.
