Cullen Comments Disappointing - But Consistent
Rodney Hide MP
Friday, May 16 2008
ACT Leader Rodney Hide today said that Finance Minister Dr Michael Cullen's comments warning Kiwis not to expect big tax cuts were disappointing but consistent - Dr Cullen spends big but, when it comes to letting taxpayers keep their money, gives little.
"This was reinforced by the fact that Dr Cullen was more than happy to spend an outrageous amount of money to buy a train set while hardworking Kiwi families are struggling to make ends meet," Mr Hide said.
"The trouble with this Minister is that he has used the economy as a cake to carve up, rather than one he should be growing larger.
"Along with Sir Roger Douglas, I will this weekend be outlining the policies needed to do just that - grow the economy cake rather than simply carve it up - and to take New Zealand forward to beat Australia.
"These policies will differentiate those Parties who want to grow the economy from those concerned only with dividing it up," Mr Hide said.
