Passing Of Literary Great Leaves Considerable Gap
New Zealand First acknowledges the passing of Hone Tuwhare and extends condolences to his family and friends, says party MP Pita Paraone.
“Hone Tuwhare was a world-renown poet and author of enormous gifts with a literary touch that was sometimes playful and always sensitive and intelligent. He was also a modest and unassuming man who valued the simple life.
“Some of his political views were not shared by all. Nevertheless, Hone was one of those whose works reached across class and race boundaries to make a powerful commentary over the course of the 20th century. He leaves a considerable gap in New Zealand’s literary scene,” said Mr Paraone.
