Baragwanath appointed Court of Appeal Judge
The Honourable Justice William David Baragwanath has been appointed a Judge of the Court of Appeal, Attorney-General Michael Cullen announced today.
The Hon Justice Baragwanath graduated from Auckland University with an LLB in 1964 and from Balliol College, Oxford, England with a Bachelor of Civil Law (First Class) in 1966. He was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University in 1964. On his return, he joined the firm of Meredith Speight Connell & Co and was a partner with Meredith Connell & Co from 1966-1977.
The Hon Justice Baragwanath was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1983 and has been a Judge of the High Court since 1995 as well as President of the Law Commission between 1996 and 2001.
