Tribute to Rod Donald
The Green Party is today marking the second anniversary of the death of Co-Leader Rod Donald, by gathering after caucus beside his kowhai tree in Parliament grounds.
"Rod was a big part of our team here at Parliament. He was not just a colleague but also a close friend. He had a vision for New Zealand and worked tirelessly towards achieving that change," Co-Leader Jeanette Fitzsimons says.
"That work is continuing, with other Green Party MPs and Co-Leader Russel Norman," Ms Fitzsimons says.
MP Sue Bradford has spearheaded Rod's vision for a Buy Kiwi Made campaign.
"It is fitting that as the second anniversary is reached, the television commercials for Buy Kiwi Made are being screened," Ms Bradford says.
"I feel Rod would have been proud of the work we have done on this programme which he negotiated with the Government after the 2005 election.
Co-Leader Russel Norman says: "Two years on, we have continued to make progress on issues of sustainability, justice, peace and democracy.
"The Green Party is the collective project of all people who want to make the world a better place. Rod's work to build the Green Party means that his legacy will continue well into the future."
