Govt not measuring NZTE schemes properly
The Government has today acknowledged that its NZ Trade and Enterprise programmes are not properly measured, says
National Party Associate Economic Development spokesman Chris Tremain.
Trevor Mallard admitted in Parliament that NZTE still doesn’t have the mechanisms in place to measure the success or
otherwise of its business assistance programmes.
“Given the level of investment in these business assistance programmes, the Labour Government needs to be 100% sure that
New Zealand taxpayers are getting value for money,” says Mr Tremain.
“To hear Trevor Mallard tell the country that he has no idea about the success of these programmes is not good enough.
”Therefore I will be writing to the Commerce Select Committee today to ask for a review of how the merger that formed
NZTE has gone, and the success or otherwise of its business assistance programmes.
“The committee has already turned down a similar request from National MP Mark Blumsky, but this new information should
be cause for reconsideration of that request.”
