Make welfare report on Kahui household public
National Party Welfare spokeswoman Judith Collins says David Benson-Pope must promise to make public the report into welfare dependency at the Kahui household.
"Mr Benson-Pope put off welfare intervention at this household while the police were investigating. It's been 20 weeks now, an arrest has been made and National expects welfare authorities will already have a fair amount of knowledge about the situation in this home."
Ms Collins says Mr Benson-Pope should be open with the public about the level of dependency, as well as the interface between this family and welfare authorities.
"Government agencies will have been dealing with this family in one way or another for a number of years. Let's see if there's anything that could have been done to break the cycle of dependency far earlier."
