If The Greens Can't Hack It, Give It To New Zealand First
"With the Green Party unable to decide what is made in New Zealand and what is not, clearly they just can't hack fronting the ‘Buy New Zealand Made’ campaign and so should hand it over to a party that can,” says New Zealand First Deputy Leader Peter Brown.
"Buy New Zealand Made was our policy long before the Greens ever came to Parliament and while we have become used to parties pillaging our policies, we do expect that they will do justice to them and get it right.
"The Greens are just like National in that respect, they borrow the words and rhetoric, but clearly don't know what they mean.
"New Zealand First is absolutely clear on this matter. Buy New Zealand Made means just that – New Zealand Made.
"If some of the criteria being floated about on this issue is true then even companies like the Warehouse will meet the criteria and that would be a travesty for New Zealand manufacturers.
"This critical policy needs a champion that understands the true intent and value of promoting our own products, not who will send confused and muddled signals to New Zealanders looking to support local producers and manufacturers. This is really a case of the Greens not being able to handle the heat and therefore needing to vacate the kitchen," concluded Mr Brown.
