Hone Harawira Enters Parliament
"On Monday 7th November at 9.00am the people from Te Tai Tokerau are delivering me to my new job as a Member of Parliament. This will be followed by an address from myself" stated Hone Harawira, Member of Parliament for Tai Tokerau.
"During the address I intend to reflect on two things; my experiences of the Parliamentary system so far and what style of politics I hope to demonstrate during my time as an M.P".
"It is a day of celebration for my people who are travelling all the way from Te Reinga to the capital and a day when I will pledge my allegiance to defending Maori rights and advancing Maori interests".
"It is also, of course, a day of great sadness, as we think of all those who have passed on before us, and in particular the late Rod Donald, Co-leader of the Green Party. Such a tragic loss will impact on us all".
