ACT Leader Rodney Hide has renewed his call to privatize TVNZ, saying that taxpayer money is being wasted and politicians aren't capable of running the business efficiently.
"Yesterday, Ian Fraser's replacement was to start this week. Today, Fraser's being paid for another six months.
"This is another example of Helen Clark saying one thing but doing another - promising New Zealanders a tight reign over TVNZ spending, while turning a blind eye to what's actually going on.
"Taxpayers give TVNZ around $60 million a year. TVNZ should be run commercially, with commercial salaries and conditions. That can only be ensured by privatization.
"Politicians shoudn't be running TV stations, and shouldn't be appointing those that do," Mr Hide said.
