National welcomes another Labour U-turn
National Party Education spokesman Bill English says he welcomes another U-turn from Labour, this time over proposed changes to school bus routes at 250 schools.
"The changes were incredibly unpopular and Labour has again done an about-turn for fear of more bad press," says Mr English.
"These changes were driven by Labour Party ideology, rather than what is best for schools, pupils and parents. This was merely another attempt by Labour to take away parents' freedom to choose what is best for their children.
"National has said all along it will leave the current policy in place with no change. It gives parents choice about what school their child goes to and gives schools the power to plan their own bus runs," says Mr English.
