National candidate stuffs up - Mallard
National party candidate Tim Macindoe should brush up on his internet skills and get his facts right before rushing into print, Education Minister Trevor Mallard said today.
"Mr Macindoe, the party's Hamilton West candidate, has just issued a very embarrassing press statement claiming the Ministry of Education's TeachNZ website tells people to go away when they log on.
"This is utter nonsense and it turns out it is utter nonsense because this man hasn't bothered to get his facts right. He is looking at the wrong website. The Teachnz website is www.teachnz.govt.nz and it works very well. It is not www.teachnz.co.nz as Mr Macindoe claims.
"He has really stuffed up and should immediately remove his press statement from the National party website, and apologise to Teachnz which is doing a great job giving out information about teaching, and getting teachers into schools.
"I kind of feel sorry for Mr Macindoe. It is hardly his fault. After all he is just following the example set by National MPs like Bill English who regularly and repeatedly makes things up and who could not give a toss about telling people the truth," Trevor Mallard said.
