Alexander: One more week’s holiday? Yeah right!
“The government’s ‘generosity’ in ramming an extra weeks holiday on employers and employees alike are being paid for by an extra week of work to pay the tax,” said United Future spokesman Marc Alexander.
“Those on the average wage ($817 per week) are being forced to work an extra week just to pay their tax bill! That means one less week to earn money for themselves and their families. It’s nothing but a huge rip-off”
“And to add beaurocratic salt into the bleeding wallets of taxpayers…the government has been congratulating itself on handing out another week off (through the Holidays Act) which will, in turn, be paid for by those same taxpayers!”
“The end result is undermining the presumed relationship between work and reward. Why bother? The choice will end up being go overseas, go on welfare, or work for the state.”
