Social report waste of taxpayers' money
ACT Deputy Leader and Social Welfare spokesman Dr Muriel Newman today described the Labour Government's social report as a big waste of taxpayers' money.
Social Development Minister Steve Maharey today released Opportunity For All New Zealanders, which outlines the Government's social policy agenda for the next five years.
"This report is a big disappointment. It is nothing more than feel-good, sound-good, double-speak. It won't deliver any improvement in the lives of those New Zealanders most in need.
"The report appears short of any intellectual rigour. Unfortunately, it is the type of politically correct ideological nonsense we have come to expect from Steve Maharey.
"With a Cabinet reshuffle due next week, the failure of the Minister to deliver anything worthwhile must surely place him high on Helen Clark's list for a demotion," Dr Newman said.
