Minister to join 'Walking School Bus'
Judith Tizard will join Westmere primary school students on their Walking School Bus on Friday, 10 September at 8:30am.
The occasion is to celebrate the launch of the Auckland School Travel Plans booklet ? part of a programme to assist schools and parents with travel planning in Auckland.
"Walking School Buses are one of a number of options available to ease traffic congestion, while giving children the option of active, social and safe journeys to school.
"Every weekday over 200,000 children travel to and from 500 schools in the region. It's not surprising that morning trips to school are a major contributor to Auckland's traffic congestion.
"School travel plans can help achieve significant reductions in car trips in and around central Auckland," said Judith Tizard
