Electorate chair says Nats will retain Kaikoura
National Party Kaikoura Electorate chairman Brian Moore says National will not only retain Kaikoura but will increase its majority at the next election.
"Kaikoura is a strong National seat and we are extremely confident we can find a candidate that will guarantee it stays that way."
Mr Moore is commenting in the wake of the decision by Lynda Scott to return to her first love of medicine rather than seek re-election to Parliament.
"Lynda has been a wonderful and hard-working representative for our region. Our electorate organisation gives her our thanks for her guidance and her hard work on our behalf.
"What is politics' loss will clearly be medicine's gain," says Mr Moore.
"We are now starting the process of identifying a strong candidate who will meet our rigorous selection criteria.
"We expect the opportunity to represent a vibrant area of New Zealand will be keenly contested," says Mr Moore.
