EIT Boss Should First Get His Story Sorted Out
New Zealand First’s education spokesperson, Brian Donnelly, has suggested that Bruce Martin, CEO of the Eastern
Institute of Technology, needs to explain inconsistencies in his own statements before he criticizes MPs.
In a statement in the House, Steve Maharey said that the CEO had denied any such recruiting practice such as that
described by New Zealand First MPs Ron Mark and Edwin Perry who enrolled in a course outside a takeaway outlet in
Rotorua late at night.
However, it was agreed that Mr Mark and his colleague Edwin Perry were enrolled. Now it has been revealed that they were
provided certain materials, necessary for the course.
“Mr Martin can’t have it both ways. He can’t claim that such recruitment practices were not pursued and then criticise
the MPs who were recruited in this matter,” said Mr Donnelly.
“Before questioning the integrity of Messrs Mark and Perry, Bruce Martin needs to explain the obvious inconsistencies in
his statement to the Associate Minister and what he agrees actually happened,” said Mr Donnelly.
