King Puts Australia First
New Zealand First is saddened but not surprised that the Minister of Health is more concerned about cosying up to the Australians than paying heed to democratic processes at home.
“The blatant disregard, verging on contempt, for the select committee’s report on forming a joint agency with Australia to regulate the dietary supplements industry shows where this Minister’s loyalties lie,” said New Zealand First health spokesperson Pita Paraone.
“She couldn’t wait for the report, which took 14 months to complete, because someone from the Australian Parliament was coming here this week.
“This shady maneuvering to get the result she always wanted is a kick in the guts for all those people who took the time to make submissions to the committee. Even worse, it’s a kick in the guts for democracy and the process of lawmaking in this country.
“I call on the Minister to stop being flattered by the attentions of admirers who are only after one thing, and listen to the people she is supposed to be here to serve,” said Mr Paraone.
