Minister's tribute to late Judge Treadwell
Environment Minister Marian Hobbs has paid tribute to former Environment Court Judge, John Treadwell, who died yesterday.
"I wish to acknowledge the valuable contribution His Honour Judge Treadwell made in his legal career," Marian Hobbs said. "In particular, he had a long and distinguished service as a Planning Judge in the Planning Tribunal, then as an Environment Judge in the Environment Court, and, since his retirement from full service in 1996, as an Alternate Environment Judge.
"His pragmatic decisions under the Resource Management Act from the time it was first enacted in 1991 were particularly valuable in ensuring the new regime was set on a steady course.
"The resource management profession as a whole will regard his passing as a significant loss."
