Nz First Mps - Auckland Regional Council Rates Meeting
New Zealand First MP Dail Jones is calling for the meeting to be held by Members of Parliament with the Auckland
Regional Council on Friday 8 August, to be open to the media with the view to express that the meeting being noted and
publicized.
“New Zealand First’s policy on this issue is very clear, he said, “the Government has an obligation to utilise money
raised by way of roading taxes to be spent on proposals to encourage passenger and rail transport.” “If the Government
is serious about supporting the Auckland region’s plans to get people out of cars and into buses and trains, then the
Government should be supplying the $27m needed to make up this year’s ARC increase in rates.”
People have had barely one month’s notice of this enormous increase in rates and elderly pensioners, young families and
even people living in rental accommodation will be made to suffer if the Government does not step in to implement the
Government’s own policy and come forward with assistance.
“For the so-called Minister for Auckland to say that Aucklanders should move out of Auckland if they cannot pay Auckland
rates, shows our little she really cares or even knows about the predicaments being faced by Aucklanders both young and
old today.”
The situation is made even worse by the fact that the Prime Minister is an Auckland Member of Parliament and has made no
effort whatsoever to assist her constituents, let alone other Aucklanders.
