New Zealand First Takes Credit For Ncea Budget Funding
“A concerted and vigorous attack on the level set for NCEA fees has pushed the government into adding remedial money into the Budget,” claims New Zealand First education spokesperson, Brian Donnelly.
“New Zealand First was appalled at the effect of the increase of fees on families, especially those on low incomes, and took pains in the House to point these out. In some cases the increases were by as much as 233%.
“Government members were visibly embarassed by the decisions of their own Minister. His decision had undermined their own world view.
“Budget announcements that there is to be considerably greater funding, particularly targetted towards relief for low income families and families with more than one child sitting NCEA is welcomed.
“However, it had to be forced out of the government by New Zealand First. This is yet another wrong that New Zealand First can claim that we have FIXED”.
