Race Relations Commissioner should resign
National Party leader Bill English says comments by Race Relations Commissioner Joris de Bres are way out of line and he must be sacked.
“To compare New Zealand’s colonial history with that of the Taleban in Afghanistan is an insult and shows he is not fit to hold the job. The Government appointed Joris de Bres and I want to see whether they distance themselves from these comments.
“It is usual for the Opposition to be consulted about such appointments, but in Mr de Bres’ case this did not occur. This is another case of Wellington political correctness versus the people and New Zealanders have had enough.
“Mr de Bres’ comments are an insult to all fair thinking New Zealanders and he should either apologise or resign,” says Mr English.
