Greens Emerging As Second Party In Wellington Central
The real story of today's Dominion Post's poll of Wellington Central is that the Greens are on the brink of overtaking National as the second major party in the seat, Green Party Wellington Central candidate Sue Kedgley said.
"I predict that by July 27 the Green Party will receive more party votes than National and become the second major party in the electorate," Ms Kedgley said.
The other interesting feature of the poll is that the Wellington city bypass is the major issue of concern to Wellington Central voters, along with the waterfront and business development.
"I detect that Wellington Central voters are becoming increasingly disillusioned by Labour's inaction over the by-pass," she said.
"Marion Hobbs campaigned on stopping the by-pass during the past election, but what has she done over the past few years?"
Ms Kedgley said stopping the by-pass would be a high priority of the Green Party in the next Parliament.
