Awatere Huata Will Stand for ACT in Napier
Friday 21 Jun 2002 Donna Awatere Huata Press Releases -- Education
ACT Education Spokesman and member of parliament Donna Awatere Huata today announced she will stand for ACT New Zealand
in the electorate of Napier.
"I am very excited to be standing for the party vote in Napier. In Wellington, I have worked hard to become established
as the only clear Opposition spokesperson on education issues. I've also returned to Hawkes Bay every single week to
work with constituents. I have found the people of Napier to be passionate about ACT policies of returning quality to
our education system, putting truth in sentencing, creating a zero tolerance approach to crime and delivering a tax cut
to every worker.
"I will continue to work hard in this election campaign to earn the party vote of the people of Napier," Mrs Awatere
Huata said.
Donna Awatere Huata is a former opera singer, principal, psychologist and business woman. She has been a member of
parliament for ACT New Zealand since 1996. Mrs Awatere Huata's autobiography was a best-seller. Before the election, her
next book will be published. Mrs Awatere Huata lives in the Hawkes Bay with her husband Wi Huata.
