Awatere Huata Urges Calm from Politicians During PPTA Voting

Emails between principals on the teacher pay dispute have no place in the public arena and should not be used to score
political points, ACT Education Spokesman MP Donna Awatere Huata said today.
"Teachers, principals and parents are all very concerned at the pay dispute, and all sorts of emails and faxes are
going between schools at the moment. People are speculating. That's understandable. But Wellington politicians should be
careful to allow the PPTA's democratic voting process to continue without interference.
"ACT believes the system of centralised negotiation is intrinsically flawed. But we respect the right of PPTA members
to vote without scare-mongering," Mrs Awatere Huata said.
