“What is the point of voting for a party which doesn’t bother to turn up to vote in the House on critical legislation?”,
asks NZ First spokesperson on GE, Brian Donnelly.
“That’s what the Greens did over the GE legislation. No one turned up to vote. It was a classic case of if you don’t
play by my rules I’m going to take my bat and ball and go home”.
“The action of the Greens sends a strong signal to the electorate about the likelihood of a constructive coalition
relationship between the Greens and Labour after the next election”.
“Instead of carrying out their responsibility of recording through their vote their position over legislation, the
Greens were all out drinking their organic grapejuice. That’s no way for a responsible political party to act, “ said Mr
Donnelly.
“What the Greens need to explain is, why they voted for every part of this legislation during its committee stage and
then refused to vote for the bill when it came out of committee”.
