TVNZ's Interim Result is "pathetic", says National's Broadcasting spokesperson Katherine Rich.
"The surplus of $14.5 million for the half year is $9.9 million less than the previous half-year result. And it's
unlikely things will improve much as the Charter begins to bite.
"When National left office TVNZ was one of the top five organisations owned by New Zealanders. In 1998 it was worth $975
million - these days it would be lucky to be worth even half of that. Under the watch of Marian Hobbs TVNZ is slowly but
surely being driven into the ground.
"New Zealanders want to see more local content on TV, but this will become more difficult if the financial situation of
TVNZ means it has less to invest in local production," says Ms Rich.
