Taupo MP Comments On Kinleith Issue

Published: Wed 27 Mar 2002 05:21 PM
Taupo MP Mark Burton says he was today informed of Carter Holt's major restructuring plans for the Kinleith mill near Tokoroa, which will affect the jobs of many local workers.
Mark Burton says it is an issue that will have a huge impact on the local community, and it demands, and is getting, his immediate attention.
"I have arranged meetings with union delegates in Tokoroa, Carter Holt Harvey executives, relevant ministerial colleagues, Mayor Gordon Blake, and local community leaders.
"My principal concern is for the well-being of the people of Tokoroa," Mark Burton said.
"I will be working with everyone involved to achieve the best possible provision of support for the affected workers and their families."
