ACT Deputy Leader and Health Spokesman Ken Shirley will be leading a large contingent of ACT MPs taking part in Sunday's
Round the Bays fun walk/run in Auckland.
"Most of our MPs and plenty of our party members will be taking part as a team.
"It is a bit of fun, but there's a serious message as well. Health services are under increasing pressure. One of the
best ways to avoid getting sick is to make yourself fitter and healthier.
"ACT believes strongly that individuals should take greater responsibility for their own lives and shouldn't depend
entirely on the state to provide for them.
"We're all taking part because we believe that MPs, who have to make the decisions about health funding and the sort of
health system we have, owe it to the people of New Zealand to set a positive example.
"ACT will be leading the charge to better health on Sunday and we challenge MPs from other political parties to also
front up and lead by example," Ken Shirley said.
