Lee's Support of City Council Protesters is Bizarre
Friday 15 Mar 2002 Richard Prebble Press Releases -- Governance & Constitution
ACT New Zealand Leader Richard Prebble said Sandra Lee's statement on behalf of protesters trying to break up a lawful Auckland City Council meeting is simply bizarre.
"Parliament will not allow members of the public in the galleries to interject. In fact, members of the public who are whispering to one another are asked to leave. The idea that there is a right to disrupt a meeting of a city council that has been democratically elected just because you don't agree with the policies is absurd.
"Sandra Lee should tell her Alliance friends who are disrupting Auckland City Council meetings to desist, rather than giving Ministerial support for their illegal actions," Mr Prebble said.
