Dunne Will Put Bow Tie To Good Use

Published: Mon 25 Feb 2002 12:02 AM
United Future leader, Hon Peter Dunne, whose bow ties are well known around Parliament, says he will be putting them to good use this week.
Mr Dunne intends marking Muscular Dystrophy's Bow-Tie Awareness Week by wearing a bow tie in Parliament all week.
"Muscular Dystrophy has sent all MPs a special bow-tie badge to wear to mark the week, but I am more than happy to make my support for its cause known through wearing a bow-tie every day this week."
"I am happy to challenge all other MPs to join me."
"Who knows, one or two of them might even enjoy the experience and take to wearing bow-ties more regularly."
"More seriously, Bow-Tie Week is an important occasion to draw public attention to muscular dystrophy to people's lives and to raise awareness levels and support for this worthwhile cause," Mr Dunne says.
