Richard Prebble
Press Releases -- Economy
It's certainly an innovative policy for the Labour/Alliance government, which has hit business with increased taxes, ACC re-nationalisation, the re-introduction of union monopoly power and increased compliance costs, to now claim it is business friendly, ACT leader Richard Prebble says.
"Every government since Keith Holyoake's national development conferences has claimed in election year that it's going to transform the economy.
"The plans have ranged from Mike Moore's whacky Lamburgers to Muldoon's disastrous Think Big.
"The Labour/Alliance government's campaign of `Growing an Innovative New Zealand' appears to be strong on rhetoric and short on substance. The policies are designed more for the Press Gallery than for people who run their own business.
"If in election year Helen Clark was to announce the government was cutting taxes, that would really be news," Mr Prebble said.
