Appointments To NZ Film Commission

Prime Minister and Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Helen Clark today announced the reappointment of Barrie Everard to the NZ Film Commission for a further one year term, and the appointment of Lisa Chatfield, Bob Harvey and James Wallace as new members of the Commission for terms of office of three years each.
“I congratulate the new appointees to the NZFC. Their skills and experience, drawn from a diverse range of activities and backgrounds, will be invaluable."
Lisa Chatfield, is a film producer. Her films include Signing Off and Scarfies. Bob Harvey is Mayor of Waitakere City and former Deputy Chair of the New Zealand Film Commission. James Wallace is the Managing Director of James Wallace Productions Ltd.
“Barrie Everard has been a strong contributor to the Commission. Retaining his wide industry knowledge and experience will be of great value to the Commission for a further period," Helen Clark said.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The New Zealand Film Commission is responsible for encouraging the making and distribution of New Zealand films and the development of the New Zealand film industry. It is not a producer of films but supports New Zealand films through investment, marketing, industry support and other activities.
Barrie Everard
Owner of independent film distribution company in Auckland. He also has wide experience in a range of other areas in the film industry including film exhibition and production. He has been a documentary producer and acted as the executive producer of two feature films. Mr Everard’s extensive film industry knowledge will complement the skills of those members of the Commission with backgrounds in the film industry.
Lisa Chatfield
Self-employed film producer. Films produced include Signing Off and Scarfies, as well as serving as producer’s assistant for Shearers Breakfast. Lisa also commenced script development work last year with Robert and Duncan Sarkies.
James Hay Wallace
Managing director of James Wallace Productions Ltd and founding trustee of various charitable trusts. He is the founding underwriter of the Auckland Chamber Orchestra and founding patron of the Auckland Theatre Company, NZ Opera, NZ Ballet, and a member of the board of the Auckland Philharmonia. He has been involved with film scripts, including the feature film Desperate Remedies.
Bob Harvey
Mayor of Waitakere City; former deputy chair of the New Zealand Film Commission (1986-92); former president, New Zealand Labour Party. As Mayor of Waitakere Mr Harvey has been extensively involved in promotion of the film industry and active in encouraging film and television productions into this country.
