New Zealand First Confident Of Agreement

Published: Mon 11 Jun 2001 01:49 PM
“As part of an all day meeting the New Zealand First caucus was briefed on events to date and is optimistic that it can reach an agreement on Superannuation with Labour,” said Leader Rt Hon Winston Peters today.
“Despite misgivings on the Government’s policy we have decided to help the Government set up the fund as soon as possible. We are confident that the Bill can proceed.
“Labour has come to us on other issues as well, and we are treating these in the same manner.
“We are therefore confident that we will reach an agreement. We can go into discussions with Treasurer Michael Cullen on Wednesday in good faith,” concluded Mr. Peters.
