Serious Fraud Office Clears Donna Awatere Huata

Published: Tue 29 May 2001 02:57 PM
ACT MP Donna Awatere Huata said today that she was pleased that she had been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Serious Fraud Office.
“I followed the provisions as set out in the Members Handbook. The claims I made were proper and appropriate and I was always sure that I would be cleared.
“However, Parliamentary Services needs to make its rule far more explicit. If it wants MP’s to base their claims on a weekly basis rather than a nightly basis, then the MP’s handbook should say so,” Mrs Huata said.
