Engineering And Environmental Excellence From Transit
Transport Minister Mark Gosche congratulated Transit New Zealand which has won three top awards at the Institution of Professional Engineers Awards.
"Transit has been recognised for both engineering and environmental excellence. I would like to congratulate the team for their great work," said Mr Gosche.
Transit and consultants Beca and McConnell Smith won the IPENZ Supreme Award for Engineering Excellence 2001 (infrastructure) for the Otira Viaduct.
The viaduct also won the IPENZ Engineering award for Environmental Excellence, while Transit's ALPUURT project North of Auckland was a finalist in this category also.
Transit was further recognised with a special Merit Award for its high degree of environmental awareness and proactive environmental management of the state highway network.
