No Wonder Front-Line Troops Can’t Get A Pay Rise

Published: Tue 3 Oct 2000 03:39 PM
New Zealand First has accused the Army of squandering scarce Defence dollars on public relations exercises instead of equipment and soldiers’ long overdue pay rise.
Defence spokesman Ron Mark has established that over $300,000 was wasted on a corporate video exercise for the Army.
“What a gross wastage of valuable resource that could have been spent elsewhere to far greater effect,” said Mr Mark.
“As if that isn’t enough,” he said, “they have wasted a further $100,000 on corporate rebranding and media training, each of which is of dubious benefit to anyone in the Army that I have worked with.”
