PM announces minor reallocation of Cabinet responsiblities
Prime Minister Helen Clark today announced that Hon Parekura Horomia had officially assumed his responsibilities as Minister of Maori Affairs, following the signing of his ministerial warrant by the Governor General at Government House.
Mr Horomia will be ranked twelfth within the Cabinet line-up.
The Prime Minister also announced some minor reallocations of Cabinet responsibilities.
"Hon Trevor Mallard becomes Minister for the America's Cup to ensure the best possible co-ordination across government agencies and the successful management of the event.
"Hon George Hawkins has taken on the responsibilities of Associate Internal Affairs to assist Hon Mark Burton, especially in relation to citizenship issues.
"This fits well with Mr Hawkins' existing ethnic affairs responsibilities.
"The only other change relates to Hon Phillida Bunkle, who has swapped her Associate Women's Affairs role for a position as Associate Conservation minister.
"This reallocation will provide additional assistance for Hon Sandra Lee and will fit well with Ms Bunkle's other environmental responsibilities," Helen Clark said.
